Chester Arnold

An artist that has a great way to express his youth and a bright modern, complex ways, but yet you can find biblical time in his work as well. Chester Arnold “On Earth as it is in Heaven” exhibit at the Nevada museum of arts was very impressive in the way Chester has transform politics and social responsibility in to his works of art.

As I was viewing the artworks I came across “Reports to the Contrary” this painting was painted 2007-08 on oil on linen. It looked to me to be Manhattan New York in central park the wind is gusting up with trouble on the financial system papers, notes, reports, a business mans hat tossed in the wind. The skis are moody with heavy clouds. What can the future hold? As it maybe the work of art was sold to Global Financial services giant Lehman Brothers for it’s corporate art collection. Not long after Lehman Brothers declared bankruptcy  (This information was noted from the exhibits side notes).

I see it ironic that Chester Arnold foreseen the futures down fall of the financial district back in 2007. I like the painting because of it s setting, the park and the buildings on a stormy day. There is a building with a green roof at the edge of the park that reminds me of where John Lennon lived.

  1. Good. Concise. You have a very organized blog, too. Thanks for including the image. Someone else wrote about this and I couldn't picture it in my head.
